This weekend Bristol will be treated to another family friendly art extravaganza as the Affordable Art Fair hits town. Head down to Temple Meads where you’ll find 50 UK galleries showcasing the work of around 500 artists. Prices will range from £100 – £6000 and there will also be a whole range of events happening to keep both kids and adults happy!
Head down on Saturday for some great workshops and talks. There’ll be a chance to create abstract images drawn entirely from your imagination with the help of Bristol charity Studio Upstairs and art therapist Hilary Rapp. The Folk House will be back to demonstrate simple print making techniques that you can then use to print on a tote bag.
If you love displaying art in your home (by famous artists, yourself, your kids… anyone!) there’ll be a chance to listen to some wise words on framing from the lovely folk at Niche Frames. To round off the day, there’ll be a special colouring in workshop with the wonderful Alex Lucas, one of our favourite local artists.
There’s more fun on Sunday too with a chance to make your own pinch pots and discover the calming effect of working with clay! And bringing the fair to a close, there’ll be another Folk House workshop where, with the help of their friendly staff, you’ll be able to stuff, sew and decorate your own doll to take home with you.
As well as all this, UWE will be showcasing the work of some of their top art graduates and an experimental drawing robot will be at work creating limited edition prints designed by it’s creator Paul O’Dowd!
Food and drink will be available from Friska (or pop over the road for some mouth watering Harts Bakery treats!). Tickets start at £3 and are available from the Affordable Art Fair website. It takes place at Brunel’s Old Station, BS1 6QH from 8-10 September 2017.
