The Other Art Fair returns to Bristol and this year it’s going big! From 26-29 July 2018, over 100 artists will be showcasing their work at The Passenger Shed by Bristol Temple Meads.
Last year’s event was a great example of how art events of this kind can cater for families, as the fair hosted a number of child-friendly activities to keep the little ones entertained. It was busy, yes, but fun too.
‘Parents can bring children without worrying that they will get bored! It’s important for us to also encourage children to get involved – the artists we work with are so creative and inspiring.’ JESSICA CHOW, FAIR MANAGER
This year looks set to be just as good, giving you the opportunity to buy art directly from emerging artists as well as take part in some of the immersive projects on offer to the public.
Justyna Medon from Spike Print Studio will be calling on you to help create a collaborative wall hanging. There will be pre-cut stencils available to add to this large scale piece or you can create your own in a ‘roll it – print it’ session.
Bristol based illustrator Molly Fairhurst will be offering free live drawings including one minute portraits and blind portraits. Visit her stand and walk away with your very own personalised artwork.
Tim Andrews’ Kitten Colouring Wall will delight adults and kids alike and has popped up all over the world… Sydney, LA and now Bristol! A perfect opportunity to showcase those colouring-in skills you’ve no doubt been accruing since having kids.
There’s even ‘The Kids Choice Awards’! Children reporters can explore, investigate and vote for their favourite parts of the fair with The Little Pages, a newspaper illustrated by Sumena Owen.
After the success of last years ‘Colours of Bristol’ installation, Bristol Igers have called on the local Instagram community to get involved with their #igersBrickvsBloom challenge and capture the two different sides of our city. Expect an abundance of street art and wisteria!
Under 16s go free, but we’ve teamed with The Other Art Fair to give you grown ups free tickets too. Just visit the website and enter the code BRISTOLARTSMONSTER to nab yourself free entry on 27-29 July.
Enjoy the fair!
